Curiosity doesn’t kill the fox. It empowers it!
After fixing bugs and seeking feedback from users for months, MetaMask has set the new UI as default when users install/update MetaMask version v4.9.X in August 2019.
While users who have been trying the Beta UI would have been accustomed to the new user experience, those who have sticked to the Old/Original UI might wonder if their user experience, or interface design is intended for them.
In particular, many users have asked if the announcement screen is “right”, when encountering it for the first time.
After loading MetaMask following an installation/update, users will be greeted by the “Announcement” screen. On this screen, users could learn about the list of updates, and are presented a few options:
- Learn more about the UI update: https://medium.com/metamask/metamasks-new-ui-has-begun-to-roll-out-74dba32cc7f7
- Proceed with the new UI : Users would then open a new welcome screen where users could create a new wallet, or restore an existing wallet with their seed phrase.
- Revert to the old UI : Users would then roll back to the original UI (except with a blue ribbon at the top which enables users to switch to the new UI any time, as displayed in following screenshots.
As usual, users could then proceed to create a new wallet, or restore a wallet from seed phrase in the old UI.
For users who prefer reverting to the old UI for the time being, you should try out the new UI, as the old UI will gradually phase out. Also, MetaMask will direct more resources to enhance and maintain the new UI, so you should expect better experience and support for the new UI.
